Wordless Wednesday: A Walk in the Park

Posted by Kolchak on April 27, 2011.

I‘m a big fan of the outdoors. We live in an awfully pretty spot here and it seems like during the spring, our town is prettier than usual. Hawk over at the Brown Dog Blog always posts the most gorgeous pictures from his walks. So we thought we would share a few of ours from this weekend.

Feeling decidedly over ambitious, we decided to walk the Fort to Fort Trail.  The F2F holds a special spot in Mama and Felix’s hearts as when Felix was rescued, Mama lived in Fort Langley, a quaint little heritage town on the river. Her and Felix used to walk (part) of the trail every single day. But being young and the weather being sunny for the first time in days, we were feeling invincible and decided to walk the whole 6.8 km (4.2 miles). Not thinking. Not thinking at all.

A math quiz:
If the trail is 6.8 km from point A to B and you park at point A, how the heck will you get back to your car upon arrival at point B? The answer? Walk another 6.8 km. because your Mama is a goon and you have no other option. I was tired. *very tired*.

Reason #1 I am in major ♥ with my home town. The Rocky Mountains.

Felix just hanging out and enjoying the sun.

A Canadian Goose. Don’t mess around with these. They are vicious and they will chase you. There is nothing more undognified than being chased by a goose.
The pole smelled *delightful*. You can see by how strenuously I am pulling on the leash that I was reluctant to walk away.
Grandma walking down the path cursing and shouting
“You better not be taking my picture back there.”
BOL. Of course we aren’t Grandma ;)
More fabulous smells. This place is just FULL of fabulous smells.

Mama’s heart was captured by this old farmhouse.
She made us stop walking, so she could read the heritage
marker and learn more about it.
Fe & I *BOTH* liked this smell. Felix rolled in it.
He smelled and he got in BIG trouble. Mama had to spray perfume on him and when we got home Daddy asked why Felix smelled
like a prostitute. *nice*

The view across the river. So peaceful and beautiful.

BOL, I always have to laugh when I tag these posts “Wordless” Wednesday. I aspire to be wordless…one day. maybe.

You two had a wonderful walk and such great smells. Katy is still a bit frightened when she leaves the backyard, so we have not tried too many outings. Mom and Dad said we will explore more this spring.-Bailey & Katy
