Mama’s been a bit of a backslider lately. Since the GG got sick again, there’s been no human hamster wheel, no meals that look like birdseed and I have seen *SODA* at our house. (Organic, homemade, stevia sweetened soda, but all the same, soda.) I thought Mama had run him outta town. I’m telling ya right now, Mama is going be some ticked off come bathing suit season. If she doesn’t knock this off she’s gonna look like someone tried to stuff a loaf of bread into a sausage casing. (Sorry for the visual. Mind bleach, anyone?)

It’s a holiday here in Canada (Happy Birthday Vicki!), so we get a bonus day with Mama. We slept in, had a steak fruitatta and went for a walk. Mama settled in to read me all my favourite blogs and as we read, she munched on some licorice allsorts. As she snacked on this illicit treat, she was overcome with the desire to make some sort of dog treat mix that captured the fun and variety of a bag of allsorts.

With all due respect to Mr. Edison, he had it all wrong.

Chaaaaaa, you know what? Uh uh. I don’t think so. We here at Kolchak’s Kitchen disagree. See here, we do things a little different. Here, the formula is just a little…tastier.

Math was never my strong point, but you see what I’m saying, right? When your experimentin’ in the kitchen you need an idea you love, the determination to make it work, and a snack to keep you going. (We puggles work better when we’re WELL. FED.) If you have all the necessary elements you will definitely end up with delicious culinary genius.

We’re in the kitchen today, trying to make Mama’s vision a reality. Do you think we’ll pull it off? We’ve got the inspiration, the determination & the chicken. We’ll let you know if it ends up delicious.
