The Odd Couple

Posted by Kolchak on May 20, 2011.

I had intended to feature a fellow puggle in need every Finder Friday. I think that everyone needs a little puggle in their hearts, homes and snack cupboards, but frankly, I was distracted by a listing on Petfinder. The mix it suggested was too unbelievable and I had to click to find out more.I have absolutely nothing against dogs who are *ahem* Genetically challenged. My brother is a bone-a-fido M.U.T.T.  Some people would argue that I, Kolchak T Puggle am of questionable heritage.

Felix is (we think) a havanese poodle, with a dash of bichon thrown in for good measure. All smallish dogs, I can see a cute little havanese and a poddle getting together and hanging out, can’t you?
I am a pug beagle. Both absolutely adorable, medium sized pups. I think a pug and a beagle make a lovely couple – and we know they make beautiful babies ;)
But seriously, sometimes I see a mixed breed out there and all i can think is “What the heck were they thinking”?!
Meet Candy & Charli, two WHIPPET PUG mixes from Sherman Oaks, Ca.
SAY WHAT?! PUG?!
*not the actual puppy parent, but available for adoption in Idaho Falls!*

and WHIPPET?!

*not the actual puppy parent, but available for adoption in Tonopah, AZ*

One is only “knee high to a pig’s eye” and the other is a WHIPPET?! How did they even MEET? How did that even…you know…work out?! Did the pug have a stool?! ;-) ~ (I’m winking at you Hannah Banana).

Ohmidog, I hope the Mom was the Whippet. I *really* really* hope the Mom was the whippet.  It’s like a May/December romance only, like, with height. It’s a Knee Cap/Counter Top romance. BOL, oh my…bad joke.

Whatever the circumstances, these two rolled the dice, took a chance on love and ignored the fact that they were completely ill suited for each other. And the result?

Two super cute babies.

CANDY
CHARLIE

Check it! Look at their sweet underbites.

Love me a pup with an underbite.  These siblings have a super sad story. Their family packed up and moved, leaving both pups behind, locked up in the apartment. These poor sweet babies were on their own for  one or two weeks before they were found and taken in by the New Life K-9 Rescue. Despite this rough start, the are both very sweet & loving.  A couple of snuggle bugs, they are content just to cuddle in your arms or to play and romp.

Check out these two sweethearts!

Um, someone wants some attention there, eh?

Not gonna lie. Mama wants them. Bad. Someone please adopt them before my stupid Mama decides she needs to. They are serious adorable cute. I don’t need any competition in that arena. *I* am the serious adorable cute one in this house.

And on a very happy note:

It is so great to see Petfinder in action! Sharing these adoptable pups, telling their stories and getting their photos out there WORKS!

Last week, a friend was browsing Petfinder and stumbled across Shyann, a GSD in Kentucky. She posted this link on our friend Monica’s Facebook page. Isn’t Shyann just the most beautiful GSD you have ever seen? We just love love love her colouring. She immediately captured the heart of Brigade members everywhere and most importantly, she captured Monica’s heart too.

Well, today we got the good news! Sweet Shyann has a new home with Mom~o~Bear Monica! We are so excited to see Petfinder work and so glad that Monica is ready to welcome another pup into her heat. We know that you’ll make Bear proud.

Welcome to the Brigade Family Shyann!

We can not WAIT to get to know you. You won the lottery little girl. You’ve got the best Mom ever.
