It is Remembrance Day in Canada.
On this day in 1918, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, the Armistice was signed bringing World War 1 to the end and restoring Peace to the World. Though we mark the day of the end of WWI to remember, today is really a day to reflect on the many, many men and women who sacrificed time with their families, their comfort and safety and too many, who sacrificed their lives to ensure my freedom.
Like many Canadian, many of my family fought in the great wars and today, I am remembering my Great Uncles, one of whom never came home and remembering the Pride and Sadness in my GG’s eyes when she would talked about her brave, handsome brothers. Hollywood glamourizes the life of a soldier, but they aren’t movie characters or actors in costume. They are real people making amazing sacrifices for their Country and people they don’t even know.
