Holy woof you guys! It’s WEEK THREE of K9 Kamp already!
Can you even believe it? It feels like kamp is just flying by this year. It must be because I’m having so much fun! (Gee, I hope that you are having fun too. You’re having fun, right?!)
It can be tough to find enough time to work out.
Life is busy. There’s that Job fellow who takes up so much of the Mama’s time, the hours that go into cooking meals for the pups and people here, errands, laundry, that jungle we call a yard and the Mama’s infuriating insistence on having a tidy house eating up a whole lot of those daylight hours. You don’t always have the time to go for a 5 mile walk or to play fetch for a couple hours.
What’s a dog to do when they’ve just got one doggone minute?
Make it count! This week is all about things you can do to stay fit with Fido when you only have a minute or two to spare. These are little things you can do all day long, whenever you’ve got time. Play tug of war with your dog while you wait for the coffee to be made. Chase each other up and down the stars while you’re carrying laundry back and forth. In a pinch, I’ve even played a game where made Koly jump up on the couch and get back down over and over! (Hey! It was a rainy day at the lake house! We had to burn off some energy somehow and all could hear was my Mom shouting “no ball in the house!”) It doesn’t matter if you can play for 1 minute or one hour, every little bit helps!
Your goal this week is to initiate a fun fitness game with your dog whenever you have a spare minute.
Try for at least 10 minutes a day, but don’t stress about it. Maybe tomorrow you only find 5 minutes, but you find 20 minutes on Sunday. That’s cool! Make t work for you. Try throwing in some fitness for yourself too, eh? Humans need fitness and exercise too,ya know.
Here’s some ideas to make those minutes count!
For the dog try a minute of: fetch, tug of war, keep away, or tag. Run of jog up and down the stairs or try jumping on and off the couch or bed.
For the humans try a minute of: Jumping Jacks, Lunges, Squats, St Ups, Push Ups – the sky is the limit.
