So, if you’re friends with me on the Facebook you might have seen that my Mama abandoned me.
How totally rude can the Mama be, right? She just packed up all her stuff and left me to fend for myself, with only the Daddy to look after me. I got so so sick and it was awful. I almost died. (the Mama’s Note: Actually, that’s not entirely true Koly. OK, you puked. Twice. Probably because you ate a dinner plate full of chicken and Italian cheese and a bag of Teddy Grahams. the Daddy actually came waaaaaay closer to death than you did because there was still vomit on my favourite quilt when I came home. Seriously, I question that man’s smarts sometimes. It’s that Y Chromosome screwing things up again. Just sayin’.)
Those of you who woof with me on the Twitter probably noticed that she tweeted more this past weekend than she has the entire time I’ve been on the Twitter and know where she went during her “doggy desertion” long weekend.

Whaaaa? You aren’t?!
Come @ me. You know you want to.
The Mama was at BlogPaws. For those of you who don’t know, BlogPaws is the social media conference for pet bloggers. Last week, tons of pet bloggers descended on Salt Lake City, Utah for three days of fun, networking, learning and more.
Apparently it was woofing awesome.
So while I rotted away here in rainy, dreary BC, the Mama was woofing it up with some of our favourite Bloggers in SLC. Since apparently, the Mama doesn’t feel add much to the BlogPaws conversation other than “a bunch of whining”, guess I hand the blog over to her. I’m not happy about it though.
I am as angry as this bird I got from Hartz.
So yeah, here’s what Mama (the traitor) has to say:
Totally overwhelmed.
That’s how I felt walking into the BlogPaws ballroom and seeing more pet bloggers than I even knew existed. Y’all, we are LEGION! Or at least, that’s what it looked like. The good news is that it was honestly the friendliest group of folks I have ever had the pleasure to spend time with. It’s kind of surreal to meet all the Celebridogs.
@PepperPom
LOL, in fact, it was the Celebridogs that made it possble to “recognize” other bloggers!
After trying to catch up with one of our K9 Kampers, Cinny at
Whirlwind of Surprises, we sat at the same breakfast table for almost 15 minutes before we realized it! It was so much fun to meet some of my favourite bloggers and to have the chance to spend some time with them. My best memories of BlogPaws 2012 won’t be the sessions I attended or the new products I discovered, but rather exploring the Utah Arts Festival with
Mrs. Taleteller from Tales and Tales, discussing the State of Dog Blogging (and our own blogs) with
Pamela from Something Wagging and sharing a room with (possibly the best roommate ever),
Doreen from Doggies and Stuff.
Not to say the sessions & keynotes weren’t awesome.
It was hard not to be inspired as Betsy Saul, founder of
PetFinder, challenged pet bloggers everywhere to fall n love with and adopt a cause vital to animal welfare and be a First Follower. Not sure what that means? Check out 3 minutes of
pure awesome.
There was a lot of runny mascara as we watched and as
the Dog Files founder Ken Bell gave us the chance to personally thank one of the 9/11 Canine Handlers. (Next year’s BlogPaws had better be sponsored by Kleenex and Waterproof Mascara, I tell ya!)
We all looked inward as Lena West of Influence Expansion got real with us.
Duff from @kat_and_dogs
Confronting our “money stuff” head on was (is) daunting, but I think I we’ll all be better (or at least more profitable) for it. I know I will. And those were just the keynotes! Over two days, attended sessions on video production, Pinterest, Time Management, Facebook, Twitter, Book Publishing and more…I have a ton of notes. Sweet woof, so many notes. A ton of insight and wisdom which I hope to apply to Kol’s Notes and so much more to learn. (We don’t want to bore y’all with every little note. If you’re interested in seeing them all, leave a comment below and we are happy to share.)
I hope that as Kol’s Notes grows and changes this year, you’ll let us know what you like, what you don’t like and what you want more of.
Tilman, the Skateboarding dog
If you’re a pet blogger thinking about attending next year’s conference n Tyson’s Corner, VA, just do it! Honestly, I can’t even put into words here how much you’ll get out of it. It’s not just the other bloggers or the sponsors and the swag or the sessions. BlogPaws is more than the sum of it’s parts. You don’t even know now how much more. Just book your ticket and make the commitment to yourself not to miss it.
I’ll see you there.
