and that’s enough Mama. No singing. It sounds like cats are fighting in the back alley.

It’s that special time of year here in BC. That time when it’s GORGEOUS one day and pouring rain the next. So even though today, in the dark, grey  grim reality of a West Coast Spring it seems silly as woof to be making frozen treats, tomorrow they might be just exactly what we need.

I think I might have mentioned that Nana has abandoned me, in favour of a vacation. That mean’s I’m spending long days cooped up in the house. When Mama gets home, she tries to make up for it, but it’s hard. In addition to lots of walks and play time, she’s making us food puzzles to try to solve.

KONGS are a great way keep your pup busy and their brain working.

I don’t want to brag, but the Mama makes a mean KONG. Lately, she’s been having these weird shakey things for breakfast and lucky me she’s been letting me lick the container when she’s done. Then she realized that, duh! This would make a totally bangin’ KONG stuffing idea.

Even if you don’t use KONGs, which is crazy ’cause you should, you could absolutely make this in ice cube trays, paper cups, another brand of treat toy or any container that floats your boat.

KONG Stuffing Ideas: Taste o’ the Tropics

Ingredients:

  • Ripe Banana
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Shredded Coconut
  • Pineapple Chunks

Instructions

Break off a small piece of banana and use it to plus the small hole in your kong. Place your KONG, with the small plugged hole to the bottom, in a cup or bowl that will hold it upright.

Chop the pineapple and remaining banana into small chunks.

Mix together yogurt, coconut, banana and pineapple.

Spoon the mix into your KONGs. I like to leave a chunk of pineapple or banana hanging out the top as an "instant reward" when I serve the KONGS.

Place in freezer 2 - 3 hours or overnight.

Serve.

Kolchak usually finishes LONG before he can make a mess of it, but I prefer that Felix eat this on the lawn, porch or in the kitchen to avoid making a mess.

My dogs can be very food motivated, but I have one that is a tennis ball nut. Check out the cagey cube...Such a cool "thinking" toy!

That's the same evil, determined eyes Gretel gets when she is working on her Kong. I eat smoothies too every day but I like chocolate - chocolate coconut milk banana, frozen strawberries, 1/8 cup oats, 1 TBS cocoa powder, chia seeds and Vega veggie/protein powder. Because of the chocolate, the dogs can't share.
