Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a dog tag addict.

My dogs have tons of tags. I have the first blue bone tag of Felix’s that I bought the very first day we had me. I kept the Spiderman tag that we bought with Kolchak’s name on it – months before we even decided what kind of dog he would be. I saved the Flyer’s hockey tags that were a gift from our Secret Paw, Leo a few years ago. I have hand crafted tags, laser printed tags and engraved tags. Tags that hang and tags that lay flat to the collar. I have so many dog tags that I had to order a special box to keep them all in.

I always want MORE TAGS.

I’ve always loved the look of hand crafted metal tags and over the years, we have featured some really beautiful tags from an array of Etsy shops, but metal tags are never something I felt confident tackling as a DIY project. Metal is sharp, yo! I will cut myself, I know it.

I’m absolutely loving the faux metal look of these tags. (Well, the post keeps calling them “pendants” like they’re for humans or something. HA!) Polymer clay is SO easy to work with and the end result looks gorgeous. I absolutely want to give this a try.

My mom isn't into the tags at all, but we have over 50 collars to choose from and she has a hard time not buying more all the time!

50 COLLARS!? How do you store all that? How does your Mom even remember what all you have? Do you have a picture of them all?? (Mama is having some serious collar envy right now.)

Wow, those are awesome, they really look like metal! We made shrinky-dink tags once but they didn't last very long at all.

I've always wanted to try the Shrinky Dinks tags, just because they look so fun and easy. Bummer they don't last. They might still be OK for a special occasion or for an alternate tag while travelling or something.

I want to make these for ME! I'd love to make one for each of my dogs, but use them as necklaces to keep my furbabies close to me.

LOL, well the original tutorial does call the "pendants" and not "dog tags". I love what a cute idea it is to make them dog inspired to be worn by you.

That is awesome! The only time I've made tags for our dogs it was travel tags when we went on a trip and I made them out of Shrinky Dinks. Clearly, I have a long way to go!

What a great idea to make tags for travelling. I usually just get the cheap laser tags from the chain store, but I guess that's a little more reasonable with two dogs than the million or so dogs that you have.
