So, for the last month, I’ve been trying to think of something awesome.
Something worthy of a CELEBRATION! I had this awesome ingredient that I wanted to do something amazing with. I had these delusions of grandeur that I was going to take something great and make it BETTER! Koly and Fe were going to go wild.
The only problem?
When you’re starting with something as AWESOME as the Jones Lambs Lung Puffs it’s kind of … difficult as woof to try and improve on them.
We don’t buy a whole lot of treats at Casa de Kolchak.
We eat a lot of veggies and fruits. I bake from scratch. We just don’t need to buy a lot. There’s one thing we buy though and I try to always have some in the house. I call it my Koly Kryptonite, but you guys will probably recognize them better as the Jones Natural Chews Lambs Lung. You guys, this stuff is so good at driving Koly crazy that I have to keep it hidden. You know how we have that fancy “doggy command centre” where I keep all the dog stuff?
I can’t even keep the lamb’s lung puffs in the dog cabinet, I have to sneak them into the house and hide them.
Imagine me, like some kind of weird “reverse Hamburgler”. Instead of trying to steal treats, I’m trying to get them into the house and stash them away, without Captain “Insanely-Good-Sniffer” finding out. When I buy a bag, I have to double wrap the fully sealed bag in more plastic bags. Then, I hide those bags into my ridiculously oversized purse, then I spritz the whole deal with a couple sprays of my favourite essential oil perfume. When we get home, I hide the treats in the laundry room, behind the detergent, hidden by a package or two of paper towels.
Extremely awesome treats call for extreme measures.
I mean, I love using chunks of the lamb’s lung puffs to reward Koly with, but I don’t particularly enjoy my uber-food motivated puggle crying in front of the treat cupboard at all hours of the day and night, doing tricks in hopes that I will see what a “Good Boy” he is. It’s obnoxious… and adorable, but mostly obnoxious.
And I guess, if you weren’t a crazy dog lady, like me, you would say that I’m crazy for buying them, if they make things that crazy, so crazy, in fact, that Koly can barely focus when they’re around. In a way, I guess that would make sense, except, if I didn’t smuggle them into our house like a Drug Lord, I would never get to see this face:
Sometimes, the best treats don’t have to be fancy or complicated. Sometimes, you don’t have to turn them into something better.
Sometimes, great treats are great, all on their own right out of the package.
Jones Natural Chews knows this and their treats are simple, natural and 100% Casa de Kolchak approved. Whether it’s the bully sticks, the pork pumpers (another Koly favourite) or any of the other meaty, US made Jones Natural Chews I always know one thing when I hand my dogs a Jones treat: they’re going to love it.
In a DIY world (and I am a DIY girl), I choose to buy Jones treats because they’re worth it. I mean, the crazy eyes speak for themselves.
