‘Round these parts, people are making their holiday wish lists.
Now, I don’t know how your dogs are at making Amazon wish lists, but my dogs suck at it. I have no idea what is on their wish list. I know what I like. I know what things I want to buy them, but I really have no clue what they WANT. Did they see a toy they loved at the store? Is there a treat they’ve been dying to try? I have no woofing clue. They’re both very cryptic that way. So come Christmas morning, I have no clue of they’ll be like ” THIS IS MY NEW FAVOURITE THING” or “Oh, thanks for that. Maybe I’ll play with it in August…if I’m bored…and you lose all my other toys”. WELL FINE FELIX. Some dogs are hard to please. So, in the interest of saving y’all the trouble of guessing what might be on your dog’s wish list, I’m sharing some of Koly and Fe’s favourite things. Maybe they’ll make your dogs as happy as they make mine, plus, if you stick around until the bottom of the post, you could win some wooftastic prizes.
Food Dispensing Puzzle Toys
Food toys are my world and one of the only things that saves my sanity in a cold, wet rainforest winter. They are great for slowing down dogs who eat too fast, dogs who need to stay busy and dogs who are too smart for their own good.
Kol loves: The Dog Casino This is a hard puzzle and it keeps him busy for a fantastically long time. It’s great for dogs who are food motivated and smart. It might be too hard for dogs who aren’t food motivated though. $52.99 (on sale for $34.55!)
Felix loves: The Dog Brick I love this puzzle because you can make it easier or harder depending on your dog’s skill level. If you add the bones in, you dog has to remove them, like a key, to get at the treats, but if you leave them out, they just have to slide the panels back and forth to get at the treats. This is exactly Felix’s speed. $52.99 (on sale for $33.06)
They both love: The Kong Genius Toys These mix and match toys can be fitted together in an infinite number of ways to create an ever changing puzzle toy. Perfect for dogs of all skill levels. The Mike: $20.99 (on sale for $10.19) | The Leo: $20.99 (on sale for $10.19)
Kol loves: Bully Sticks Don’t ask what they are. Don’t google it. Oh man, do not ask your friends. Koly absolutely loves a good bully stick and even knowing what they are, I feel good giving them. 25 x6″ Bully Sticks – $74.99 (on sale for $38.99)
Felix loves: Windees Trachea Chews Given his choice of any chew in the store, Felix will always choose a trachea chew. As gross as they looks, they are a great choice because they have natural chondroitin and glucosamine which help support Fe’s joint health. 6 x 6″ Chews $19.99 They both love: Yak’s Milk Chews Oh holy woof. These chews could start a Smackdown at Casa de Kolchak. This is one of the few treats that my dogs will resource guard, which is why when they get them, they both go to different rooms to enjoy them without conflict. They love that THAT MUCH. 1 x 3.5 oz. chew $12.00 (on sale for $8.03)
Kol loves: Invincibles Snake This snake is filled with the most obnoxiously loud, completely jarring squeakers I have ever heard and they WILL NOT DIE. Even after they’ve been punctured. Even after you’ve played tug with him a squillion times. Even after you’ve accidentally dropped a steak knife on him. Perfect for mine and Koly’s rough and tumble “tug of war” sessions. $19.99 (on sale for $8.49)
Felix loves: Pet Lou Colossal Rabbit My first thought was to say he loves his dirty, stinky yak or his gross, disgusting frog, but you guys, they are ONE OF A KIND. I have never found either of them again and frankly, the only thing holding them together is bacteria and love. The CDC should study those things. HOWEVER, the next up and coming favourite toy at Casa de Kolchak is this giant rabbit. At 15″, this toy is literally as big as Felix and he loves it. $19.43 (on sale for $13.60) They both love: Patwork Pets Long Legs Tortoise I hate this devil turtle, but man alive do my dogs love it so much it breaks my heart. It makes a weird noise when you shake it and it has rattles in it’s legs and squeakers in it’s feet and it makes the worst noises ever. It’s just noisy. Felix loves every minute of it and even Kol, who isn’t usually into plush toys he can’t play tug with get in on the fun, shaking it and throwing it around. $9.45 each (also comes in giraffe and zebra)
