It’s Halloween, it’s busy and we know you’ve got a lot to do.
That’s why this week’s tasty DIY Dog Treat recipe is so easy, you could do it in your sleep. Better yet, if you have a few of those tiny humans, this is the perfect recipe to keep them busy for a little while.
A quick Google search will show that there are a TON of no bake dog treat recipes out there. When you have a dog like Felix, those recipes just won’t work. My fluffy boy has a lot of food sensitivities and he can’t have grain. Tonight when I was looking for a quick, easy grain free dog treat, I couldn’t find one.
Luckily, I know a thing or two about making homemade dog treats, so I got int he kitchen, got a little messy and created my own grain-free no bake pumpkin & peanut butter dog treats and because I like the flavour, I threw in a bit of coconut and carob for good measure. Koly approves. He likes coconut and carob too.
The Stuff (aka Ingredients)
- 1/2 c. coconut flour (I used Red Mill)
- 4 tbsp. natural, sugar-free peanut butter
- 8 tbsp. canned pumpkin puree
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- finely shredded coconut or powdered carob for rolling
How We Do It (Instructions)
Combine coconut flour, peanut butter, pumpkin, cinnamon and ginger. If the dough is a bit crumbly, add small amounts of peanut butter, working the dough in your hands to help the oil bring the dough together.
Break small amounts of dough off and roll into balls. Roll each ball in finely shredded coconut or powdered carob.
It’s that easy. 10 minutes, maybe 15 if you dawdle. An hour if you have tiny hands helping 😉
