Kolchak likes to help.If you’re reading a paper, he is there…to lay on it.
Want to read a book? He is the man. Oh, he’ll let you read it, as long as you can read with one hand, as the other is constantly petting him, trying to fill the big gaping void in his heart. (Yeah, it’s so hard to be one of my dogs. He gets no love, no attention…the sight of you giving your attention to something so lowly as a book drives him insane.)If you’re cooking, he is an excellent help there. It’s his specialty really. He’d love to be in the kitchen, helping you to spread your cooking ingredients out (by spilling them. He like to be right under your  feet.) He is an excellent Quality Assurance Manager. He will taste anything that you drop (or that you leave too close to the edge of the counter.)

He is fantastic help when cleaning as he tries to vanquish that evil vaccuum that is clearly threatening my life by playing chicken with it.

This time of year gives Kol a real chance to prove his worth though. He is amazing at wrapping gifts. Like amazing. Do you have gifts you need wrapped? Just call 1-800-kolchak. He is a skilled wrapper, known for his beautiful precision work. Why, just last year, he helped me complete all my wrapping taking care of those final decorative details.

Or so he thought.

What? I didn’t make a “mess” of the ribbon.
I’m decorating!
Yeah, he’s a big help.
This year, if I want to get anything done, I had to get a little more creative.
Enter the Holiday Kong.
A festive flavoured treat to keep the Koly busy while I get stuff done. **awesome**.
Here is what you need:
A Kong in the size and toughness best for your dog

A handful of peanut butter or gingerbread dog treats  –  we use our Doggy Gingerbread (Kol’s Note: for a grain-free or gluten free treat, make sure you choose grain-free or gluten-free treats as your base)
1 tbsp of natural peanut butter
1 tbsp of canned pumpkin
1/2 tsp blackstrap molasses
pinch each of cinnamon, ground clove & allspice
*skip the nutmeg, it isn’t dog friendly

Seal the small hole at the bottom of the Kong with Peanut Butter. Press a few treats into the bottom of the Kong. Mix together the Peanut Butter, Pumpkin, Molasses and spices. Crumble all but 1 remaining dog treats and stir into paste mixture. Fill the remaining space in the Kong with this mix, then press a treat into the large hole to seal it. Secure in place with Peanut butter.

For an easier puzzle, serve as is.

For a more difficult puzzle, freeze and serve.

HEY! Can we ask a favour?

We almost never enter contest here at Kol’s Notes, but this one we couldn’t pass up. The fabulously talented Angie at Off Leash Photography is holding a contest for best Holiday photo. Neither of my Cockers know that command but if they did I would only use it as like a "time out" when they misbehave
