Are you ready for the big game?

According to the humans, this Sunday is game day. You know the game I mean, the one where giant humans run around in really shiny pants throwing around a ball that looks like Stewey Griffin’s head?! What do they call that one? Football??I don’t care what game they’re playing as long as there is treats.

Mama’s promised that along with a plethora of human treats, there will be lots of homemade dog treats for our canine companions. So while the Daddy is watching a bunch of guys clumsily smash into one another, we’ll be celebrating #SuperDogSunday, helping the Petfinder Foundation and eating lots of tasty treats. Sounds like a bang up day to me.We have lots of dog treat recipes that are perfect for game day.

For example, my Kolchak’s Chips are tasty dehydrated veggie chips for dogs. They’re crunchy, delicious and covered in a tasty meat shaker. I can definitely recommend them.

Fresh Puptato Skins are a special dog friendly version of the human classic. With a slice of potato, a hint of cheese and a bit of tasty chicken chewy, these treats will have your dog drooling.
Jerky is a must have for any sporting event. Why not make Jerky Dog Treats from any meat your dogs loves? It’s super easy and you can do it in a dehydrator or the oven.
Tonight Mama made special cookies for the big game! They’re super cute and tasty as woof!

Ingredients:

Instructions

Preheat oven to 300F & line baking trays with parchment paper.

In a blender, food processor or (my fav!) the Magic Bullet, blend liver and egg into a paste.

Add gluten-free flour, baking powder and garlic (if desired) and mix until they form a stiff dough. If needed, you can add water a tbsp. at a time to loosen up the dough. How much water you need to use, if any, will depend on how much moisture was in your liver.

Turn out dough onto a floured surface and roll to 1/4″ thick.

If you’re way smarter than my Mama, this is where you’ll get out your football cookie cutter and cut your cookies. If you’re like my Mama and you forgot to pick one up after work (even though it would have given you the perfect excuse to go to the cake supply store) and you don’t HAVE a football cookie cutter, you can try this:

That’s right, Mama used a drinking glass and over lapped the cut outs to make her own footballs. It meant she had to roll out the dough a couple extra times, but that was OK. Of course, you could always use any other dog treat cookie cutter or just cut them into squares.

If you’re super fancy, you can use fondant tools to mark the tops of the cookie with laces. Mama is not fancy; she is lazy, so she didn’t do that except on this one cookie.

Place cookies on the parchment lined cookie sheets and brush with egg whites. Bake at 300F for 20 minutes, flip, then bake another 15 – 20 minutes more. Remove from oven and place on a cooking rack. Since these cookies have lots of tasty real meat in them, they should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer (and defrost as needed) for up to 3 months.

Bone Appetit!
