It’s been warm at Casa de Kolchak.
Nice and toasty warm. Which is totally weird, since Spring in Vancouver is not noted for it’s jolly weather. It’s usually raining cats and dogs, but this year, it’s been dry as a bone.
I haven’t even gotten to wear my new Canada Pooch Raincoat yet!
And I look woofing adorable in it! I do. I’m like a super model. But alas, I’ve only got to try it on in the sun. (I totally rocked it though. Just you wait ’til it rains.)
The upside of warm weather is that Mama makes pupsicles, like all the time!
We love pupsicles. There is just something about a frozen treat that really gets me all woofly and excited. The best part is that you could make pupsicles all summer long and never run out of tasty frozen treats to try. As a total bonus, you can make frozen treats that are super healthy, even for pups who are watching their waistlines!
Plus, pupsicles are SO EASY to make!
First, puree 1/2 cup water with 1 1/2 cups of a tasty cooked veggies like green beans, zucchini, summer squash, sweet bell peppers, asparagus, pumpkin, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli or spinach. (Avoid high calorie veggies like sweet potato, potato and peas.)
Then, stir in 1/2 cup of little chunks of cooked chicken, whitefish, lean beef or other lean meat.
Scoop mix into ice cube trays and freeze. Pull out any time your dog needs a cooling snack! These are fabulous fr after a long walk or a long afternoon of K9 Kamp!
What is your dog’s favourite veggie? Have you ever made pupsicles with it?
