Not only does the later sunset and warmer weather mean extra-long extended walks and hikes, but all the best snacks come out in the summer. I’m pretty sure the family thinks that my Mama is crazy, but the truth is, she knows what dogs like.
Dogs like fruit.
I know, right? It even sounds crazy, but the truth is that the dogs here at Casa de Kolchak totally love fruit. All year ’round, we get chunks of apple and banana. Sometimes the Mama will even put on a little smear of peanut butter on them as a specials.
It’s not just apples and bananas though, we love all sorts of fruits.
Fruit is a great alternative to commercial dog treats. It’s lightly sweet, without being too high calorie, plus fruit is full of all kinds of vitamins and minerals. It’s a good choice for pups (and people) who are watching their waistlines.
