Not only does the later sunset and warmer weather mean extra-long extended walks and hikes, but all the best snacks come out in the summer. I’m pretty sure the family thinks that my Mama is crazy, but the truth is, she knows what dogs like.

Dogs like fruit.

I know, right? It even sounds crazy, but the truth is that the dogs here at Casa de Kolchak totally love fruit. All year ’round, we get chunks of apple and banana. Sometimes the Mama will even put on a little smear of peanut butter on them as a specials.

It’s not just apples and bananas though, we love all sorts of fruits.

Fruit is a great alternative to commercial dog treats. It’s lightly sweet, without being too high calorie, plus fruit is full of all kinds of vitamins and minerals. It’s a good choice for pups (and people) who are watching their waistlines.

Luda enjoys his first taste of fruit.
Wondering what kinds of fruit you can share with your dog?

There are tons of fruits you can share with your dogs. Just make sure you remove any seeds prior to serving. The only fruits I won’t share are grapes. Grapes have been known to be toxic in some dogs. t’s better safe than sorry, we say! Why not try one of these tasty fruits instead?
  • Watermelon
  • Apple
  • Banana
  • Pineapple
  • Raspberries
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Pears
  • Papaya
  • Peaches & Nectarines
Felix would eat fruit all day, if I let him! He’s a huge fan of all the fruits he has tried.

What kind of fruits do you share with your dog? Do they like it?
