Today’s recipe is from Julie’s Dog Treats in Woodstock, GA.
Julie belongs to a dog treat group with Mama and let me tell you, she makes some of the prettiest and tastiest looking treats around. Her latest creation, these Pineapple Pupside Down Cakes, has left both the pups and people at Casa de Kolchak all drooling in anticipation! (That’s right – this is a great recipe for sharing!)
Pineapple Pupside Down Cake Dog Treats
Materials
- 1 Fresh Pineapple cored
- 1 ½ - 2 cups water
- ½ c applesauce
- ½ c honey or agave nectar
- 1/3 c coconut oil plus 1T
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 T chia seed
- 1 c oats
- 2 c oat flour
Instructions
Preheat oven @350 degrees.
Cut cored pineapple into 4 rings. Use a large size pan and place on the stove top with 1Tcoconut oil. Over medium heat, cook the pineapple rings in coconut oil until brown (about 10 minutes or more per side). Remove from heat and set aside.
In a standing mixer, pour all ingredients in the mixing bowl, EXCEPT the flour (start out with just 1 ½ cups of the water). Mix for 5 minutes. Then, add the oat flour and mix. The batter should appear somewhat thick, but not too thick. If too thick, add the remaining ½ c water. Then, place pineapple rings in an oiled pan.
The pan should have 6 round mini cakes size circles**(see note) so that the pineapple rings fit inside. Then, pour your batter in the pan. This recipe should make 4 miniature cakes. Be sure to fill the batter to the rim as they don’t rise much if at all.
Cook @350 degrees for at least 40 minutes. The cakes should crackle a little on top. Let cool, then flip pan upside down to remove cakes.
These cakes are tasty enough for you to enjoy with your fur pup(s)
Notes
Kol's Note: if you don't have a cake pan with the round minis, you can simply cut up the pineapple and gently toss it into the batter and use whatever pan you have on hand!

Those look cool. We have never had coconut since Mom doesn't like coconut. I hear that dogs love it, so it is high time that Mom gives us a taste...she doesn't have to try it herself!
