When I was a kid, I used to love decorating Easter eggs.
We had a neighbour, Ann, who was so kind and generous with her time, who taught us how to blow out eggs and make pysanka. Beautiful, intricate designs that you masked with wax and dipped over and over, slowly bringing your vision to life.
As an adult, I’ve let that art fall by the wayside, but there isn’t a single Easter that passes that my heart doesn’t ache a little to dye eggs.
I love the idea of decorating Easter eggs into something more than just an egg. And I got to thinking, what if I could turn eggs into dogs?

And the best news? They’re so easy and with this free printable, you can decorate dog easter eggs of your very own.
Free Printable Dog Easter Egg Decorating Kit
Create adorable dog lover Easter eggs with this free printable egg decorating kit.
Materials
- 6 large white eggs
- Easter egg dye
- alternate option if real eggs aren't your thing: precoloured craft eggs
- White card stock
- Crayons, pencil crayons, felts or pastels
- Clear tape
- Glue Stick

Instructions
- Hard boil your eggs. Not sure how to make perfect hard boiled eggs? Check it out.
- Once your eggs are cooled, dye them in your favourite colours.
- Print the free printable dog egg decorating kit found here.
- Colour in the designs
- Glue the decorations onto the dog templates as you see fit - or colour on your own!
- Cut out the templates - including the stand tabs.
- Rolle the pieces around your fingers tightly to curve them. This ensure the egg will sit firmly in the stand.
- Tape the ends of the tabs together, overlapping them by about 1/8" - 1/4".
- Place the eggs in the bases and sit the dog heads on top. If they are wobbly, you can place a small piece of tape at the base of the of necks, in the back.
I absolutely adore how these turned out. They were so easy, they’re a great way to get kids too young to be mucking around with actual dye involved in a fun Easter craft.
