Frankly, I am surprised this is a holiday. At my house *EVERY DAY* is Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day. Though, I don’t really know that at my house you could refer to my snacks as “dog biscuits”. Something about the term just sounds so gross and tough and drier than Betty White’s muffins.
My treats are works of art, carefully crafted by a master chef to achieve the maximum deliciousness require to tempt and excite a fabulous, talented superstar puggle such as myself. (My recent Stylish Blogger Award has NOT gone to my big giant puggley head?! What are you talking about?!)
So this Dog Biscuit Day, herd your Mama, Daddy or preferred Slave (I’m a Leia fan myself) and get cooking!
Gobble Til Ya Wobble “Biscuits”
*2 cups mashed Sweet Potato or Yam
*1 large egg
*1/4 tsp garlic powder ( not garlic salt )
*1/2 cup rolled oats
In a large bowl, combine turkey, sweet potato, garlic powder and rolled oats, mixing thoroughly. Add egg and mix until combined. Lightly grease a cookie sheet with olive oil. (Very slightly.)
Pour mix onto a cookie sheet and use a spatula to evenly spread mix to the sides of pan. (About 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.) Bake for one hour at 350 degrees.
Remove pan from oven and score the cookie dough with a knife or pizza cutter, into squares.
Put back into the oven and bake for another hour at 250 degrees. Keep an eye on your oven. The time could be more or less, depending on how hot your oven runs. These dog treats should be fairly dry and a little crispy, but not burned.
