This year (*ahem* apparently every year), I am the QUEEN of Christmas shopping procrastination.
Seriously. HOW AM I NOT DONE? I plead craziness. I honestly thought I would be finished – and I meant to be, but here we are. December 22rd and I still need a handful of gifts. I know I can’t be the only one in this situation, so I’ve compiled a quick list of thoughtful last-minute gifts for the dog lover in your life.
1. Give the Gift of Pet Art
OK, it doesn’t get easier than this and it’s really a great gift that any dog lover would adore. Etsy gift certificates are available in $25 to $250 denominations and you get an immediate email confirmation. Just pop it into a frame or an envelope, suggest a few awesome shops (the search feature will help you find custom pet portrait artists), wrap it up and VOILA! Instant incredibly thoughtful gift for any dog lover.
2. The gift of bonding from Dognition
A few years ago, Kolchak and I completed the Dognition tests together. If you’re not familiar with Dognition, it’s a set of test (that feel like games) that can help you better understand how your dog thinks and help you improve the canine human bond. It’s SO MUCH FUN and it’s really helped me understand how Koly learns and grows. I can’t recommend it enough. Pick up 2 plastic cups, a pack of post-it notes, a sheet of paper and a bag of treats (aka the supplies they’ll need to complete the tests), plus the Dognition gift code and you’ve got a really fun, unique and special gift that any dog lover will appreciate.
I’ve already decided that this will be a gift for Kolchak and I again this year, as it’s been a while since we played the games and they’d be a great wait to spend those lazy, hazy days after the holiday.
3. The gift of flavour from Kol’s Notes
We are ALL ABOUT inspiring friends to get in the kitchen and HAVE FUN. The supplies to make homemade dog treats can be picked up at almost any grocery or department store. All you need is a cookie cutter or a glass treat jar, plus one of our free printable recipe cards and you’re set! (You get mad bonus points if you pick up the ingredients to MAKE said cookies.)

4. The gift of dog tech from iTunes
No matter what the dog lover in your life wants to do, there’s an app for that. You can get everything from doggy dating apps to canine fitness and calorie counting apps to apps that keep track of medical history, not to mention a ton of games for dog lovers. iPhone users will LOVE an iTunes card, plus a list of great dog apps they can download. (Wondering what apps to suggest? Check out this list from Rover)

These are such clever ideas! I've never heard of Dognition, but now I'm pretty sure I need it. I wish my husband kept up with all these blog posts. He'd have so many more idea's for me.
Maybe I should just start emailing posts to him? ;)

Thanks! Is there supposed to be a link for the apps? Seems like it's not working.
